How to convert a video to MP3

  1. Drop your video onto the box above, or click it to choose one. MP4, MOV, and WebM work in most browsers, and audio files such as M4A, WAV, and OGG work too.
  2. Pick a quality. 192 kbps sounds great for music and speech; 128 kbps makes smaller files for podcasts and voice notes.
  3. Click “Convert to MP3”. The audio is pulled out and encoded on your device, and the MP3 downloads when it is ready. Several files download together as a ZIP.

Is my video uploaded?

No. Your browser reads the sound from the video and encodes the MP3 on your own device. The video never leaves your computer or phone, which also means there is no upload to wait for.

Which video formats work?

MP4 and MOV videos from phones and cameras, and WebM videos, work in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. Some formats, such as MKV or AVI, depend on your browser. If a file will not convert, try an MP4 version of it.

How long can the video be?

There is no fixed limit, but the whole soundtrack is held in memory while it converts. Videos up to about an hour work well on most computers. On phones, shorter clips are more reliable.

Which quality should I choose?

192 kbps is a good default and hard to tell apart from the original. Choose 320 kbps for the best possible music quality, or 128 kbps when a small file matters more, such as for speech.
