How to remove the background from a photo

  1. Drop a photo onto the box above, or click it to choose one. JPG, PNG, WebP, and iPhone HEIC photos all work. You can also paste an image with Ctrl+V.
  2. Wait a few seconds while the AI finds the subject. The first time, your browser downloads the AI model once (about 20 MB); after that it starts right away.
  3. Drag the slider on the preview to compare before and after. If the cutout missed, switch between “Person” and “Object” to try the other model.
  4. Pick a background: transparent, white, black, or any color. Then download a PNG (keeps transparency) or a JPG.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Most background removers upload your photo to their servers. Here, the AI model runs inside your browser, on your own device. Your photo is never sent anywhere, which makes it safe for selfies, family photos, and ID pictures.

Why does it download something the first time?

The AI needs its model files (about 20 MB, from this site) before it can work. Your browser keeps them, so next time the tool starts instantly. This download contains only the model; nothing about you or your photo is sent.

What is the difference between “Person” and “Object”?

“Person” uses a model trained on people, which keeps hair and shoulders sharp in portraits and selfies. “Object” finds the main subject of any photo, such as a product, a pet, or a car. “Auto” runs both and uses the Person cutout only when it is clearly a person.

How can I get a better result?

Use a photo where the subject stands out clearly from the background and is not cut off at the edges. Busy backgrounds with similar colors to the subject are the hardest.

Can I use the result for a product listing or profile picture?

Yes. Download a PNG to keep the background transparent, or choose white for marketplace listings that require a white background.
